The Lugansk People's Republic has been under constant bombardment by the Ukrainian armed forces, which intensified last month, prompting local authorities to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin for help to stop Kiev's aggression. President Putin has authorised a special military operation in order to protect the Donbass population.

A powerful explosion has rocked the city of Lugansk, with Rodion Miroshnik, adviser to the head of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR), saying the Ukrainian forces had launched a missile attack on an oil depot. Miroshnik believes the Ukrainian side could have launched a Tochka-U missile at the depot.

A representative for the People's Militia said: "Ukrainian terrorists continue to terrorise the civilian population of the LPR. According to preliminary information, the fire at an oil depot in the city of Lugansk occurred as a result of the use of the Tochka-U tactical missile system by nationalists. Additional information about civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure is being specified."

According to eyewitnesses, the blast was loud and clearly audible in the city centre. It is understood that immediately after the explosion, which occurred at 6:55 a.m. (local time), a fire broke out at the oil depot.

Several videos showing plumes of black smoke have emerged online. While it is unclear if there are any casualties, the emergency services are working to put out the blaze.

The explosion comes as the Ukrainian forces are increasingly shelling both LPR and the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). Tens of thousands of civilians from the Donbass republics have been evacuated to Russia as local authorities were fearful that Kiev would launch a full-scale offensive against the region.

President Vladimir Putin announced his decision to recognise the independence of the LPR and DPR from Ukraine last month, stressing that it was impossible to ignore the plight of the Donbass population.

Shortly thereafter, the heads of the two republics asked for Russia's assistance in repelling an aggression of Ukrainian forces to avoid casualties among civilians, as they underscored Kiev's unwillingness to end the eight-year-long war. 

In response, Putin authorised a special military operation in Ukraine on 24 February to protect the Donbass population, "who have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years".

"It is impossible to look at what is happening there without compassion, it was simply impossible to tolerate all this. It was necessary to immediately stop this nightmare, the genocide against millions of people living there who rely only on Russia," Putin said in his address to the nation.

The president has stressed that the key goals of the military operation are demilitarisation and ‘denazification’ of Ukraine, as well as ensuring its neutral and non-nuclear status. 

At the same time, the Kremlin has repeatedly emphasised that Russia has no plans to occupy Ukraine. The Russian Defence Ministry has pointed out that it is only launching high-precision strikes on Ukrainian military infrastructure, and the civilian population is not in danger.

The Russian MoD stated that foreign journalists arrived in Kharkov on Sunday in advance to record the consequences of the Ukrainian radicals' provocation, in order to accuse Russia of creating an ecological catastrophe.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), along with the Azov neo-nazi militants, are preparing a provocation with possible radioactive contamination of the area near the city of Kharkov, eastern Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Monday.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian nationalists mined a reactor at an experimental nuclear facility at the Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology. The SBU and Azov battalion militants are planning to blow up the reactor and accuse the Russian military of a missile attack on the experimental nuclear facility.

"The SBU and the militants of the Azov battalion are planning to blow up the reactor and accuse the Russian Armed Forces of allegedly launching a missile attack on the experimental nuclear facility," the ministry said.

On Friday, Kiev attempted a provocation at the Zaporizhzhya NPP in the country's south, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, accusing Moscow of developing a source of radioactive contamination at the plant.

The Russian military emphasized that a group of Russian soldiers was patrolling the area close to the station when a Ukrainian sabotage unit started firing from the windows of several stories of an educational and training complex located outside the NPP. As a result of the shootout, the Ukrainian saboteurs were forced to retreat, setting the building on fire before that.

The fire was eventually put out, and the radiation level was determined to be normal.

On Sunday, in a phone call with his French counterpart, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian military "continue to ensure" the normal operation of the NPP together with "the Ukrainian security unit and personnel."

"The physical and nuclear safety of the plant is reliably protected," the Kremlin said upon the conversation.

The Russian forces are also controlling the Chernobyl nuclear site to prevent Ukrainian radicals from conducting sabotage at the nuclear facility.

"All of this is being done to rule out the prospect of Ukrainian neo-Nazis or terrorists staging provocations with potentially disastrous results," the statement read.

Notably, during Russia's military operation in war-torn Syria, the Ministry of Defense for years warned of provocations by terrorist groups and the so-called White Helmets using chemical agents to blame the Syrian government for them.

Russia launched its military operation in the Eastern European country on February 24 after the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics requested assistance in defending themselves against Ukrainian forces. 

The goal of Russia's special operation is to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, with only military assets being targeted, according to Russian authorities.

Moscow has made it clear that it has no intention of occupying Ukraine. The purpose, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, is to protect the people of Donbass, who have "who have been subjected to abuse, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years."

que expresa 'per contra',
desacuerdo,
protesta,
desagrado,
rebelión de la frustación
que se lleva en el dedal implantado,
que quiere decir,
que, cuando nada podemos hacer ya,
cuando el agua nos llega al cuello
en la cloaca de tantas injusticias,
degradacion,
embrutecimiento,
miseria e impunidad
...aquello que decia Garcia Lorca
de ese "impulso de uno -que- sería gritar 

todos los días al despertar
en un mundo lleno de in­justicias 

y miserias de todo orden:
¡Protesto! ¡Protesto! ¡Protesto!",
es decir, ese impulso que tenemos al despertar

en la opresión "Digitus Impudicus"

del hombre por el hombre,

y ante la impotencia bajo tal estado de cosas
en éste Panopticón dónde vivimos
bajo arresto domiciliario
con la fantasmagórica ilusión
de ser 'invitados' a 'comentar' 

y decir 'lo que pensamos'

...uno de los gestos que nos queda
como alternativa de prisioneros arrestados,
es el del dedo medio,
medio y sagrado,
